July 1969

As I type the month of July 1969, the images of this life at the end of the 60's are strong in my mind.  This weekend has been one filled with new memories being made with new friends and recalling memories of the past with friends and family that have gone before us.

Yesterday, as we were enjoying a small party, I met a new friend who touched my soul.  She reminded me of other people and experiences in my life.  We shared stories and memories, and her spirit really touched me and inspired me to continue on this journey of memories that I've started.

Today, I listened to the great old music of the Carpenters, Bread, and the like, as I tinkered around at home.  Mom and Dad had brought boxes on their last trip of some dear old glass and dinnerware and it was time to see the treasure.  Then before I finally sat down to type, I filled bird feeders and trimmed flowers, smelling the fragrance of wild violets like the ones that were in Dena's yard.  I listened to the cicada's in the trees just like the ones we heard as kids on the starry summer nights at Dena and Daddy Dale's.

And now as I type, I realize that while I may not be sewing, cooking, and living the way Dena did in the late 60's, I'm making the same kind of great memories.  Life is good.
